About the webmaster and his website


I created this gay guide as a pastime and hobby when I found there was no other information in English about the gay scene in Quito, Ecuador. The information has been researched during my periodic visits to Quito, Ecuador starting in January 1999 and most recently in February 2004, with regular updates provided by friends who are resident there. Since I am not resident in Quito, Ecuador I shall be very grateful to other residents or gay travelers for any information, news, or changes that will keep this website up-to-date. I do not ask for or receive any payment or other benefits from any of the businesses listed here.

My name is Ian, I am from Manchester, England, and I have been living in South America since September 1997, mostly in Lima, Peru, and also in Buenos Aires, Argentina where I am now. I have traveled extensively in Peru, and the rest of South America, (you can read about some of my travels in Ian's Travel Tales - see Useful Links on another page. I have a good knowledge of gay life and places in Lima, Peru; Quito, Ecuador; Santiago, Chile; and Buenos Aires, Argentina . The best advice I can give to any independent traveler intending to visit this continent is to join the South American Explorers whose information resources, services and discounts will undoubtedly make your travels easier and cheaper.
